Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and organised Financial Controller to join us at this exciting time.

The role

Due to a period of significant growth, we’re looking for a Financial Controller to join Ignition Collective at a very exciting time. We are looking for someone that not only wants to own the financial function but to be a driving force in the business to continue to help us grow. This role is for an experienced, qualified candidate with a desire to be embedded at a strategic level to support the Director in making business decisions.

Responsibilites

  • Responsible for the entire financial function of the business and overseeing all day-to-day finance operations
  • Provide strategic financial support to the Director to facilitate broader decision-making and business planning
  • Act as a true business partner across all business functions, being a point of contact between finance, the Director and the wider company
  • Drive annual strategic planning and forecasting processes, including setting operational and financial targets to ensure robust management of business and divisional performance
  • Manage the maintenance of the financial accounting system and accounting processes
  • Implement improved business information so profit can be identified down to the individual project level
  • Project costing – ensure all costs, benefits and cash flows are robustly calculated
  • Identify and focus on future improvements to systems and practices
  • Review the current accounting package and assess whether fit for purpose long term
  • Project cost management – estimating, budgeting and controlling costs and cash flows throughout the project life cycle to keep expenditures within the approved budget
  • Project variance analysis – regular reviews of the project performance actual spend vs budget to highlight issues early on and suggest corrective action. Analyse variances in margins both within a project and between different projects
  • Oversee preparation and analysis of month-end management accounts, completion of monthly executive report packs, review and improve current standard costing model
  • Review the management accounts and balance sheets and investigate variances in conjunction with other members of the senior management team
  • Provide insightful performance monthly analysis to help the business achieve its commercial objectives
  • Manage the entire year-end process and take overall responsibility for the balance sheet and reconciliations
  • Delivery of elements that sit within the HR function
  • Ad-hoc project support for business growth

What we are looking for

  • Qualifications from one of the major accounting institutes
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience 
  • Proven experience and skills in the role requirements and responsibilities
  • Expert in finance systems, processes and apps such as Xero 
  • Experience in payroll, pensions and employee benefits
  • Strong Excel skills for monitoring, interpreting and reporting data
  • Multi-currency experience
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to work in a team and independently
  • Hands-on mentality with meticulous attention to detail
  • Desire to work directly with business owners with a passion for making a real difference
  • Organised, proactive problem solver with a passion for ideas and innovative thinking
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to demonstrate sound judgement
  • Results-driven with a strong sense of accountability
  • Experience within a fast-paced environment and entrepreneurial-led organisations
